Mattress, pillows and linens - the good stuff!

I have never been in my best mood to decorate our house, well, our bedroom specifically, than now. Jon had just mounted the 42 inch plasma TV on the wall last week and installed the home theater with matching blue ray dvd player yesterday. Now, all electronic stuff we need are provided for so next on my list is purchase furnishings and decor for our masters bedroom.

Our bed is still good and I have no plans of replacing it, ever. But the mattress has to go. I need a new mattress. This time, I am willing to invest in a good quality mattress that can help me have that good night sleep all the time. I am hoping to find a mattress buying guide over the net so I can familiarize myself with the different kinds of mattresses available for me and which one I need that best fits my needs.

Then, I also need to get Bed Pillows or those Therapeutic Pillows that are very popular these days. I am sure they are worth the price. And since I am pregnant, I might as well get myself a pregnancy pillow to ease the discomfort my growing tummy brings. After all, we can never have too much pillows, can we? If you are like me, I need to have atleast 3 pillows with me when I sleep. Lastly, lets shop for bed linens! We can never have enough of these too, right? I always stay on the safe side though, I make it a point to get light colored linens if not white like this gorgeous Egyptian Cotton Italian Bed Linens I found. Oh, I can’t wait! Our bedroom will look and feel like heaven soon!

My “bilins”.

Jon is off to the mall today to pick up the entertainment system at Listening in Style in Shangrila. I am too lazy to join him as I am nursing a bad cold so I just made a list of stuff I need him to get for me and the little girl. He frowned when he saw the long list, haha.

Here’s my list.

~ get me an extra compact flash memory card for my canon digital ixus camera
~ buy the cinderella lamp at Mickey’s Space which I failed to get last Sunday
~ look for an aquarium kit for the little girl as she has been begging to have a little aquarium inside her room for the longest time now
~ get the shoes I reserved at Nine West
~ buy red ribbon “mamon”, Sophia’s favorite snack to bring to school lately
~ order California Roll for take out at SumoSam

Now, is my list worth frowning?

Meet Marla…

Sophia’s most favorite friend. (as she would put it)

We were in Shangri-la Mall last Sunday with good friends Martin and Jacqui (and cutie Marla too!). We ate lunch at Clawdaddy (1st pic) and went around the mall after. Dropped by at Mickey’s Space (2nd pic) to get the inner quilt for Sophia’s comforter set and was able to buy a few assorted stuff. As we went around, I was even tempted to get the Delsey luggage I saw on sale but changed my mind the last minute. Before heading home, we let the kids ride the carousel, here’s Sophia with her yaya.

My bottle search

… is over.

untitled.jpg

After reading stuff about BPA, I am now switching from Avent Bottles to Dr. Brown’s. I know, there isn’t specific proof or evidence yet as to how dangerous BPA is but every mom would agree with me that its better to be safe than sorry, right? After all, I’ve got nothing to lose if I go on the safe side, aside from the few more dollars maybe. LOL.

Dr. Brown bottles are highly recommended. According to KK:Cool Tool:

The secret to Dr. Brown’s Baby Bottles, apparently, is the tube system inside — it prevents the infant from swallowing air, which makes for a happier baby (and by extension, happier parents). As baby eats and the bottle drains, the internal tube directs incoming air to above the bottle contents, so the young one’s not working against a vacuum. This is supposed to be easier on their eardrums, too. Make of it what you will, but we’ve managed to avoid the ear-infection boogeyman which seems to hit nearly every other young family we know. Also, unlike similar systems that use collapsing bags to keep out the vacuum, you don’t need to keep a supply of the little bags around.

Here’s my loot care of my sister in law from the US:

Toy Shopping.

After seeing celebrity kids like Suri, Violet and Shiloh tote their Correlle baby dolls as shown here, I can’t help but want to get one for my little girl too. It’s the closest she’ll probably ever get to having celebrity status, HAHA. Seriously, ain’t they just the cutest? Sophia loves playing pretend too and I’m sure she’ll love to own one of these almost-for-real-dolls. I hope to find such in Hongkong next month.

I’m also planning to get Sophia these toys if available in Toys R Us HK:

For today.

I am hitting the mall today to get some grocery supplies while the little girl is in school. She is requesting for macaroni salad so I need to get ingredients for that. The yaya also told me to get shoe shiner as Sophia’s newly bought Stride Rite shoes badly needs shining. Yeah, after just two weeks! As I checked, they indeed look like they needed replacing LOL! They had scratches everywhere! This just shows how rough my daughter plays, eh? While at the mall, I will also drop by the bookstore to get the little girl another book of course to add to her collection and at the same time get A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose, a book from Oprah’s Book Club to give as gift to my Auntie who is celebrating her 50th birthday next week.  I couldn’t think of anything else to give her so might as well give her a highly recommended book.  Lastly, I am hoping to get some maternity clothes while at the mall too as I am getting bigger each day, I swear.

He wants to be healthy.

The yaya will be on a day off once again this coming Saturday so Jon and I have our weekend all planned. We are of course trooping to the mall again to 1) tire the little girl, 2) watch Kung Fu Panda and 3) check out treadmills with heart monitor as the husband is seriously watching his health right now after diagnosed to have high cholesterol level during his executive check up. He is now on daily medication and does a lot of exercise like jogging and walking in his treadmill which is about half a decade old so it needs replacing as it hasn’t been used for some time. I hope the husband really continues to be health conscious, for real.

Baby furniture shopping.

As I have already posted, we recently had some renovations and painting jobs in the house in preparation for our coming second blessing. We have long been waiting for this new bundle of joy and we are just really glad the Big Man up there heard our prayers. So you could just imagine, we - the daddy, the mommy and our little girl who will soon be a big sister, are all giddy excited.

To date, we already have fixed the nursery room. We had it colored, and are now trying to look for baby furnitures to complete it. We are hoping for a boy this time so I have been looking at nice boy themed cribs, changing tables and rugs. There is just so much to choose from over the net that it becomes overwhelming. How I wish I have all the extra funds to spare. My days are now occupied surfing and shopping for baby stuff and I am so thrilled. I can’t wait to have a new baby!

Finally giving in.

Okay, the little girl is hooked on Nintendo Wii. (She used to love my sister’s PSP but not anymore obviously.) Nope, we haven’t gotten her one yet even if she has been bugging us for the last two weeks now but whenever we visit my brothers in Pampanga, the little girl gets the Wii all to herself which is the reason why she is more hooked. She even wants to take it home! Silly girl. She plays all sorts of games. My brothers even has the classic controller which lets you play the classics with convenience and comfort thats why the little girl can play with it on her own. If I were to buy though, I would love to get the Wii Fit but I doubt if the little girl will enjoy it.

As of writing this, I have asked my sister in law to order one for us - finally. I have been contemplating if I’ll get one but I am finally giving in. I guess the little girl deserves it anyway as she has been so good in school lately even if she has to wake up really early. I am not telling her yet though. I want it to be a surprise. I hope the husband won’t spoil my plan.

The best stroller for newborns.

Barely four months into my pregnancy, I am in deep confusion in what stroller to get for my little one. Funny, eh?

There are so many strollers for newborns available in the market today and its getting more and more confusing. You see, when I had Sophia, I only knew of Graco products so it was a no-brainer. I got a Graco stroller for her. I am selling that stroller now for some reason. I am hinting I will have a boy this time so I don’t think the old one’s color and pattern is appropriate. Hence, I am looking for a new one. I wonder which is the best strollers for newborns right now based on customer reviews. I sure need help in deciding which one to get as the available choices over the net are overwhelming. I need something sturdy and has all the safety features my future child will ever need aside from looking really nice and cool of course. The price has to be on the practical side too. I also want the one that has a car seat to go with it if possible.

Looks like my nights will be pretty much occupied these days with my shopping for strollers for newborns. I just hope I find THE ONE soon enough before I lose a lot of sleep over this matter. I am one overly excited pregnant mommy can you tell?
