School stuff and what-not.

Last Friday, Jon and I attended the Parent’s Orientation at Rosemont, a PAREF School. If you still don’t know by now (which I doubt!), our little girl will be attending the SY 2008-2009 as a Nursery student in this school.

The orientation lasted for roughly two hours with a buffet dinner to boot. Rules and regulations were discussed as well as the school’s mission and vision. They reiterated how the parent’s involvement is a must just like how they expect us to attend parenting programs they usually hold and be present with the recollections they are holding specifically for parents.

The highlight of the night for me was meeting Sophia’s lead teacher and warning her of my daughter’s hyper behavior. :D She will definitely have her hands full on my daughter alone. They are 15 in class by the way with one lead teacher, one assistant teacher and one teacher aide. Here are photos I took of her classroom.

Also, I learned after the orientation that Sophia needs to bring 1 backpack to school everyday with spare clothes (including underwear), a face towel, powder and a hairbrush or comb. I also need to get her a plastic placemat that needs to be left in school. Now, this is really getting more and more exciting!

Island getaway.

If me and my husband could have our honeymoon all over again, I would definitely appreciate a Hilton Head rental vacation. As I was browsing through their site this morning as per my friend’s recommendation, I can’t help but wish I could be treated to a weekend getaway in this wonderful ultimate island destination. It’s simply a must see place and I hope my husband and I can visit it soon.

Irritating.

I have been getting annoying no balance transfer fee options from other credit card companies for days now. I know this is such a good feature but the way they contact me is becoming irritating already as they text me several times a day. I wonder how they got my number in the first place. Would anyone know how I can put a stop to this such irritating offers and how I can protect my cellphone number from these people?  Let me know please.

HK trip update.

I finally had our HK flights and accommodations re-booked.  We were supposed to leave today actually but since I got sick, I had to cancel as per my OB’s advise.  We are leaving  on August 4,5,6 and 6 instead.  This gives me ample time to recover and really get back in tip top shape don’t you think?

I can’t wait for the trip. But I am more excited for the little girl even if it’s going to be her 3rd time to visit Disneyland. I’m sure this is time she’ll even appreciate it more than her previous visits. First was when she was only 1.2 yo while the second was when she was 2.2 yo.

We’ll be staying at our all time favorite hotel in Causeway Bay (Parklane Hotel) of course for two nights and one night at a Disneyland Hotel.

Today…

~~~I promise to organize my drawers!
~~~Sort out Sophia’s toys. She has a room full of toys, no kidding! I need to decide which are staying and those we are sending away.

~~~I am hoping to transfer all of Sophia’s photos from the computer to a flash drive too. Oh Gawd, help me.
Ayan, only three things to do but they seem so hard. I bet my day will be real busy. To top it off I have so many pending you know what. LOL. HAY!!!
Most used appliance in the house.
If there’s one appliance in the house I use everyday with the most number of times, it would be our microwave. I find it very useful and can actually live with it as it can be used for cooking, re-heating and one function I love is using microwaves for defrosting. Since I almost always have no time and the patience I must say to defrost food in the refrigerator- a process that usually takes 24 hours, I find using microwaves for defrosting the most practical thing to do. A microwave can defrost food evenly and safely according to my very own experience. I have been doing it for the longest time now. Even my house help knows this technique.
I am lucky to have a microwave, a gift from our wedding last 2004, that has a defrost function button so I need not worry on overcooking the edges of the food I am thawing which is a common problem of some whose microwave ovens doesn’t have a defrost button or are not designed to have defrosting as one of their functions. You must know that when choosing a microwave, you might as well check the available best microwaves for defrosting as it wouldn’t hurt to have a defrosting feature on the most used appliance in your house as it can be very helpful and would actually save you a lot of time when preparing your meals. I would know, believe me as I do it all the time.
To save yourself some time in figuring out which microwave oven is good for defrosting aside from its initial purpose for cooking and re-heating food, try visiting http://wize.com/microwave-ovens/for/defrosting/668 as they comprehensively have a list of the best microwave ovens for defrosting.
How Happy Are You?
Just tried one of the quizzes I have been seeing on other mommy blogs.
You Are Pretty Happy
You generally have a happy, fulfilling life.
But things could be a little better, and deep down, you know it.
Maybe you need more supportive friends or a more challenging career.
Something is preventing you from being totally happy. You just need to figure out what it is!
How Happy Are You, Really?
I wonder if this is true.
