Long Weekend Recap

How did you spend your long weekend guys?
Ours? Nothing really special but precious bonding time still. Sophia was actually yaya-less so I was her nanny for two days. Nothing to complain about as the little girl was very cooperative and was easy to handle the whole time. Besides, the daddy was present to help out, a lot :)
Saturday was spent at home as Jon and I were trying to catch some sleep after a late night drinking and eating session here in the house with a couple of friends. Sunday was Yaya Wilma’s day-off so I was solely in-charge of the little girl. I didn’t have a hard time because as I’ve said, the little girl was way manageable, really. Giving her a bath was a breeze and feeding her wasn’t that hard either unlike before. I didn’t even seek help from my other helpers, at all. Not even while I was eating my lunch :) I ate in the room though while the little girl was playing Dora Games online.
We left the house that Sunday as soon as the littel girl woke up from her afternoon nap. I packed our things for our overnight stay in Robinsons Place Residences just like the last time and took a bath while Sophia was sleeping. Jon arrived around 1pm and took a nap of his own. By 4pm, I decided to wake the little girl up as she was still in deep slumber, heller, hapon na! In half an hour, we were on the road already. We had early dinner at Tempura and surprisingly, Sophia was seating the whole time, wow. I was feeding her and she was feeding her “doggy” who was seating on a high chair too, hahaha. We were all able to eat well despite not having a yaya to tend to Sophia. Great accomplishment yun, lol. Jon and I were so full. We had shrimp tempura, 2 orders of gyuniku teppanyaki, tori (chicken) teriyaki, 2 orders of salmon sashimi, kani salad and miso soup.
We were at the condo five minutes after our dinner and we decided to take Sophia to the arcade first for the rides. I rode the carousel with her and Jon played some games with the little girl. Hay naku, to say that the little girl was ecstatic is an understatement. She was beyond happy! Babaw talaga kaligayahan ng mga kids :)
By 7:30pm, we were on our way up na while enjoying our Caramel Apple Dippin’ Dots Ice Cream, sarap! New flavor yata ito or I haven’t been eating lang Dippin’ Dots lately? During Sophia’s 2nd Birthday Party, they don’t have it pa if I remember because I personally chose the flavors that time eh. Anyway, if you happen to pass by Dippin’ Dots, for petes sake, try it! Sarap siya, promise. We were ready for bed around 9pm and since we don’t have a yaya, Jon and I were not able to wacth a movie. Next time na lang.
The next day, we were up by 7am and we were on our way home after an hour. We had breakfast at Delifrance and reached home at 9am. Yaya Wilma was home already waiting for us but guess what? The little girl got so attached to me at ayaw ng magpaiwan sa yaya! It’s always like that when we spend time alone together for a while actually. This is even way evident when we go abroad. Naku, pagbalik parang wala ng ibang kilala kundi ang mommy lang niya, lol.

painless!

My first ppx session for my underarm went well this morning. It was actually painless, really. All I felt was the sucking motion of the machine (fyi, IPL has no sucking motion). Literally, it felt like someone was pulling your underarm skin, that’s it. I now feel so silly feeling a bit nervous about the procedure while on my way to the clinic after dropping Sophia off in school. Sus, ang bilis lang pala, lol. So to those who are planning on having one, go ahead and indulge yourselves :) No need for worries, promise :)
On to the details, I had mine done at Ageless Medical Spa in Festival Mall, Alabang. Why? For the very simple reason that it’s just a few steps away from my daughter’s school, talk about convenience. As I’ve said in my previous post about ppx, I’m not actually particular on which skin clinic I’ll have the procedure done. My sole requirement was that the procedure should be done by a certified dermatologist and not some attendant lang. I’ve inquired with a lot of skin clinics and prices start from 2.5k to as high as 5k per session (others though only has the attendant or assitant performing the procedures). I’ve also inquired at Asian Hospital as per Kelly’s recommendation and each session there costs 3.9k. I was almost sold na sana with Dra. Loverna Arcilla-Suratos of Asian but then I bumped into Ageless and met Dr. Heidi Chan. She was so nice and accomodating. Her charm probably got the best of me so I asked for a schedule and booked for a session right then and there.
The procedure was quick and, as I said, painless. I was first asked to remove my shirt and put on a sarong. The attendant then cleaned my underarms with sponge and water (not sure if with soap yun, lol). They applied a gel, whatever they call it which was a bit cold and that’s it. They gave me protective glasses to wear and in matter of minutes, procedure was done.
The rates, I believe, are reasonable at 3.5k per session. They do have a promo now where they are offering 25% off on a ppx package which includes 6 sessions for only 15k instead of 21k. I think good deal na yun.
Now, I’m scheduled for my second session on September 14. Downside is, Dra. Chan will be out of the country for some training so I will be endorsed to a different doctor. The Medical Spa has about 7 doctors who alternately holds clinic there. Dra. Chan said she’ll hand me over to a certain Dra. Masa for my other sessions to which I’ve no complains naman, well, none yet. Will see come next next next week :)

Updates

I am on a lazy mode again so let’s have some updates and what-nots bullet point style, shall we?
  • I’ve been reading a lot about accidents involving crocs and escalators. Take a moment and read this and this. I think it is to be noted though (as they had mentioned) that any type of rubber or soft-soled shoes or sandals can pose same dangers as the reported incidents so extra vigilance on part of the parents is the key. I am now making a promise to myself not to let Sophia step on an escalator while wearing her favorite footwear. She has 5 pairs, you know ;p
  • I’m scheduled to have my first session of PPX on my underarm tomorrow. Will let you all know about the details and how it’ll turn out as soon as I get back :)
  • Sophia’s afternoon routine revolves around her and her bike now, lol. As soon as she wakes up from her nap and finishes her milk, she’d instantly ask me to take her downstairs and let her ride her bike. We’d then go around a few blocks until she gets tired, which seems like eternity, susme. So, as you can guess, the yaya and I also get to have some exercise of our own as we do a lot of walking.
  • I met with Sophia’s teachers yesterday after her class for the first periodic parent teacher chat. We discussed about Sophia’s improvements and their observations on her physical, socio-emotional and cognitive development. I was happy to know that my daughter is adjusting well in school and participates well in activities. Her teachers gave emphasis on how vocal and expressive Sophia is–in short, madaldal, haha. But seriously, she can clearly express daw herslef and what she wants so they don’t have a hard time dealing with her at all. They reiterated also how she adores books and pigs :)
  • Jon and I are planning on a movie date on Saturday. He had been wanting to watch the third Jason Bourne entry, The Bourne Ultimatum since it was released. I just hope we push through with the plan just like what we did last time. Hopefully Sophia gets t swim this time :)

Okay, it’s late and I’ve got a busy day ahead of me tomorrow. Got to go for now. Will post updates on my PPX as promised–asap.

weekend’s setbacks and disappointments

As I’ve written in my previous post, visa applications were finally submitted last Thursday. I thought all is well already only to find out a few hours later, through a call from our travel agent, that Jon’s passport needed to be renewed because his picture is a bit damaged–one edge is detached. Wouldn’t you just get upset?! Another 6 days of delay for submission as even rush passport renewal takes that long. Add to that, Jon has to have his picture taken and if you know my husband, that is something big because it means that he needs to allot a day of not going to work (farm) just to have his picture taken. That’s how workaholic he is. When I told him about it, I got the usual “ang laking abala naman niyan ” comment. Well, well, well …
Second setback was the HEAVY traffic we encountered last Friday on our way to Pampanga. I should have expected it though since the downpour was so strong and Manila is to be avoided at such times as streets suddenly gets congested and flooded. The usual two hour and a half trip became four hour and a half. Hay, my goodness, I was so pissed! If I only knew, we should have just waited for Jon that afternoon and travelled together a little later instead of leaving early with the driver because it actualy didn’t make any difference naman. We got stuck in traffic and we got to Pampanga late din.
Saturday was the Sagum Family Reunion, our reason for going home despite the heavy rains and expected traffic. The only family picture Jon, Sophia and I have (wearing our matching outfits) got deleted in my digital camera. Kainis! Sophia was smiling pa man din there and Jon and I have didn’t have double chins, lol. Tuloy, I only have this picture of the little girl to share ….

Jon and I watched “A Love Story” after the reunion with my sister, Jazen. Sophia was at home napping so we have a good three hours to spare. The movie was good but not the really good, super goodie goodie type. If you know what I mean. Well, atleast, not for me. For the record though, I was crying in the hospital scene of Aga, Maricel and Angelica. Nakuha sa musical scoring, haha. I would still recommend it though. It’s still a good watch nevertheless.
After watching the movie, Jon had his passport picture taken at Great Image. We didn’t wait for the pics anymore because Sophia, by that time, was probably awake already and looking for me so we went home. We just asked my sister to go back and get them that night. When Jazen arrived, I was surprised to see the color background of Jon’s passport pic. It was light blue and not the usual white background. I called and they said that it’s the new requirement from DFA daw. It was only announced last Friday according to the person I talked to. Hay naku, I just hope tama yun or else I’d go really crazy already with all the setbacks we’re having with the application. I’m even thinking na di kaya “signs” na all the delays? We’re supposed to be leaving October 4 and until now we’re not even past Step 1. My Gosh!
*****insert: white background is still what we’re using. no official announcement from dfa pa daw, SUSME!!!!!!
Today, we’re back home. We left my mom’s house at 9am and we were home by 11 :) Bilis noh? I just love Sundays :) We even passed by our Travel Agency in Binondo sa lagay na yan ha. Buti naman at may bawi diba?
Kayo, how was you weekend?
